This week, we welcome a selection of boxed premium wines from independent winemakers, Laylo. Created specifically to make drinking wine more environmentally conscious, without compromising on the taste or design, these boxed wines generate 90% less carbon than wine in glass bottles.

By switching to boxed wine, you could save 20kg of CO2 emissions over the course of a year. Not only is the packaging beautifully designed and reflects the wine’s characteristics, but the box also keeps the wine fresh for up to six weeks.

We have selected three of our favourites to offer this summer:

Lot #2: Sauvignon Blanc
A fruity, joy-filled Sauvignon presenting pineapples, green apples and white peach, you might even notice gooseberries and blackberry leaves. An elegant and crisp wine, with a mouth-watering hint of acidity. Basically, it is sunshine in a glass!

Lot #3: Vino Rosso Vulcanico
Made from 50% Nerello Mascalese and 50% Nero d’Avola grapes grown on the slopes of Mount Etna, this wine can only be from Sicily. The spiced cherry flavours and soft tannins evoke the beautiful romance of the island.

Lot #4: Rosé Méditerranée
This blush rosé is made from Grenache grapes, harvested in the cool of the night. It’s all strawberries and cream with a refreshing, yet delicate, finish.

Each box contains the equivalent of three bottles of wine and at £27 per box, it’s not just delicious, but great value too. Available at Ballihoo Market, it is the perfect tipple to enjoy, as the sun goes down over the lakes.

Team it with a Ballihoo picnic or BBQ box and enjoy the perfect pairing to al fresco dining.
